About me

Bertrand Burgers is an interdisciplinary designer working at the intersection of art and science, exploring how technological and societal developments reshape human experiences, identities and ethics in an increasingly uncertain world.

Through speculative designs and immersive installations, Burgers creates tangible, experiential works that engage audiences on an emotional level. These creations invite reflection on the complex systems shaping our lives—from technological acceleration to ecological disruption—and encourage a reconsideration of how we act and adapt responsibly in response.

Collaboration plays a central role in Burgers’s practice. Working closely with academics, technologists, and creatives, he bridges disciplines and perspectives to challenge assumptions and address contemporary societal issues. His work acts as both a critical lens and a tool to explore alternative, democratic, and rewarding futures.

The work of Burgers has been exhibited at leading venues such as Dutch Design Week, Design Museum Den Bosch, and Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle, and has been featured in renowned media outlets including Trouw, NRC, New Scientist, VPRO, and BNR Radio. His designs are represented in museum collections and have been recognized with multiple awards for making urgent societal themes accessible and engaging through art and design. Some of his more applied works are integrated into context-specific settings, such as hospitals, education, and libraries, to address real-world challenges.
